He's been compared with Luther Vandross, Donnie Hathaway, and James Ingram. If you asked Chris he would say he was also influenced by the Jazzy Pop sounds of Earth Wind & Fire, the Soulful R&B of the Commodores, and the vocal jazz styling of George Benson, all balanced with a healthy dose of Gospel.
Chris' musical roots were nurtured in the church, where he started singing at the age of four. By the time he reached college he was a member and featured soloist with the World renowned "Fisk Jubilee Singers."
A head-on collision with an eighteen-wheeler in 1997 helped Chris Blizzard decide to pursue a career in Music. His pursuit took the fast track, when a friend entered him in the "BET International Jazz Discovery Contest" via a video-taped performance. Chris won the contest and was featured in a solo concert performance on BET.
BET's National and International audiences soon learned Chris has the ability to deliver the message of a song subtly yet with great emotion. His range is rare . . . rising and lowering octave after octave effortlessly, with a power matched only by the passion of his heart. |
